FUKUOKA (Kyodo) A self-proclaimed rightwinger was arrested Saturday evening in the city of Fukuoka for possessing a gun while a Democratic Party of Japan candidate was delivering a speech nearby.
The suspect, identified as Shojiro Takase, 71, from Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, was allegedly carrying a semiautomatic pistol. Although the gun was not loaded, he was carrying more than 10 bullets in a paper bag, the police said.
