The ruling coalition is facing an increasingly difficult road toward winning the 56 seats it needs in Sunday's election for a majority in the Upper House, while the Liberal Democratic Party and Your Party are continuing to enjoy solid support, according to the latest Kyodo News telephone poll.
The Democratic Party of Japan, headed by Prime Minister Naoto Kan, may not be able to win more than 50 seats, the poll showed.
