Democratic Party of Japan kingpin Ichiro Ozawa, who stepped down as DPJ secretary general last week under a cloud of scandal, told reporters Wednesday he will work as an ordinary member to help the party win the upcoming Upper House election.
"I'd like to make humble contributions as a rank and file member for victory (by the DPJ) in the House of Councilors election," Ozawa said after meeting with his successor, Yukio Edano, in the Diet for just two minutes.
