WASHINGTON (Kyodo) The United States faces great difficulty in understanding the intentions of North Korea, retired Adm. Timothy Keating, the former top officer in the U.S. Pacific Command, said in stressing that Japan-U.S. alliance will remain steady.
Asked recently if the United States has a solid read on North Korea's aims, Keating said: "I don't think we do at all. The issue of succession in North Korea (is) not at all clear."
